Braving Forgiveness

Online

With: Rev. John Riley
Cost: Love Offering
Dates: Thursdays, 7/30-9/3 (skipping 8/13) @ 7:00-8:30 pm PDT

One of the most courageous spiritual practices, and one of the most rewarding, is the practice of forgiveness. Genuine forgiveness is not a casual act and not superficial work. It is an ongoing giving up the clinging to something and reclaiming our inner power as spiritual beings. This class uses the BRAVING paradigm that Brene' Brown developed based on years of data on trusting relationships, and applies it to internal forgiveness work. Watch Brene' SuperSoul Session at https://brenebrown.com/videos/anatomy-trust-video/ for an introduction to the BRAVING paradigm.

White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk about Racism

With: Karen Friedman & Brenna Frandsen
Cost: Love Offering
Dates: 7-week Book Study 9/30-11/11 Wednesdays 2:00-3:30 PM
Space is limited. Register today and please plan to attend all sessions

The racial reckoning in the nation is hard to ignore. This is a book study for white people who recognize that systemic racism exists in our country and want to be part of the solution. In this book, Robin DiAngelo challenges us to look at a broader definition of racism, one that includes socialization of which we may be unaware. She explains white fragility, how it serves to keep racial inequity in place, and how we can begin to change it. There may be some discomfort as we come to terms with our whiteness. The group is there to support us as we learn together, moving us a little closer to racial healing.
