A Message From Karyn Bradley

January, 2008

Rev. Karyn Bradley, Sr. Minister

Living Life by Following Our Bliss

The title is a quote from Joseph Campbell, and it goes on to say "doors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors, and where there wouldn’t be a door for anyone else."

A new year offers us an opportunity for new beginnings. In fact our creator gave life many new beginnings; humans have a new year, a new week, a new day. Nature gives us springtime and the earth nurtures a seed and springs forth new life.

2008 offers us a new opportunity to renew our commitment to follow our bliss of being loving individuals and living with intention. A good way to start is to discard negative thoughts — or as author Sandra Ingerman calls them, "toxic thoughts."

She believes our thoughts and emotions transmit an invisible, but palpable energy that can affect our mental and physical well-being.

As students of truth, living with intention is a responsibility we do not take lightly. For we know we are all part of the whole and to not love another is the same as not loving our self. Loving another does not mean we love every action of that person, but rather we love the spirit and soul of that person for they are from the same source as we.

My prayer for each of us is to live our bliss by living a life of intention in 2008. Start by practicing the following steps:

Ask — to be the best person you can in 2008, free of "toxic thoughts." Use affirmations to help empower you to move through emotional blockages.

Believe — visualize yourself as a loving, caring human, free of negative, unproductive energy. Remember, every time you make a mental affirmation, your subconscious mind hears it and adjusts towards the reality of that statement.

Receive — the gift of living your life of bliss. The subconscious mind does not filter, it just acts on your statements. It is important, therefore, that you feed yourself positive thoughts about who you are.

If each of us makes this commitment for 2008, not only will each of us be a better person, Unity Palo Alto will be a place of joy, peace, love, fun!

Warm wishes for a fantastic 2008,
Rev. Karyn Bradley
Senior Minister

Letting Go

Eric Nitzberg

I find myself today in the unusual position of writing my last article for this newsletter, as I prepare to step out in faith and let go of my role in this spiritual family.

First and foremost let me say how grateful I am for all the love, support, encouragement and appreciation I have experienced here over the years. It is truly a privileged position to be a minister among such a caring and gifted community.

Thank you for making my years here so very special. I will always hold a warm place in my heart for Unity Palo Alto. As I move forward I feel both sadness, since I am letting go of so many people I have gotten to know here over the years; and excitement, as I am heading in a new direction in my life which is full of possibilities. I wish all of you at Unity Palo Alto the very best, and I envision a wonderful future for you.

Warm wishes,
Eric Nitzberg
