A Message From Karyn Bradley
November, 2007
I have a friend who says gardening is her way of meditation. She talks about gardening as though she is speaking of her spiritual life.
I often feel that gardening to her is the act of working in the soil to feel her closeness with nature.
I feel this way about my work here at Unity Palo Alto – the numbers are wonderful, but the process of getting there is what feeds my spirit.
My soul dances when I am able to report successes.
But then there are changes to report also, and I try to remember what my friend would say about changes to her gardens.
"Nurturing is part planning, part planting and feeding and part cleaning out," she would say.
Some plants are picked at their peak and placed in vases for others to enjoy.
This is how we look at those who have chosen to leave us – just as we have benefited from their talents in the past,
others will now have the joy of getting to know them and appreciating their talents.
The departure from our garden, of course, is Eric who has shared his talents with Unity Palo Alto for 13 years.
We bless Eric for all that he brought to this ministry. He has been such a great support and teacher to me.
New plants soon replace those that are plucked from the garden and we have several new additions replacing
those that have moved on. Our new additions include Stacy Orr, bookkeeper and Valerie Brown, choir director.
We at Unity Palo Alto continue to plunge our hands and hearts into our work and observe the growth it produces.
Our progresses include:
- Gerry and I have celebrated another incredible year at Unity Palo Alto.
- The Board of Trustees continues to provide support and commitment to this ministry and our vision.
- We continue to fine-tune our strategic plans.
- The Branding Team is creating a new logo and look for us.
- The Leadership Development Program has begun.
- A survey of our parents was recently conducted regarding our Youth Education Program and implementation
of some of the input will begin soon.
We at Unity Palo Alto evolve and see that change is a powerful agent for practicing what we teach in Unity.
With each event or circumstance we affirm that God’s presence is moving in and through the changes
and supporting us for all is in divine order.
Having the time of my life, Rev. Karyn Bradley Senior Minister
Announcement from Eric Nitzberg
In September I announced that after several months of prayerful consideration,
I have decided it is time for me begin wrapping up my ministry here at Unity Palo Alto.
I plan to remain on the staff until the end of February,
2008 to assist with the holidays and the upcoming budget cycle, and to work with Karyn on the transition of my responsibilities.
I look forward to connecting with everyone in the coming few months.
My time at Unity Palo Alto has been a remarkable experience.
Truly, it is hard to put into words my feelings for this community that I care so deeply about.
When I first arrived here I was in my mid-twenties and felt powerfully drawn to this church.
Over the years I have been profoundly blessed and fortunate in getting to know and work with this extraordinary spiritual family.
Thank you, thank you so much, for having been such a huge part of my life journey these many years.
Many people have asked me about my plans for the future.
I am excited to share that I am in the process of starting a real estate development company here in the Bay Area.
I have had a growing interest in real estate over the past few years and look forward to pursuing this new venture.
I know and believe what Unity teaches that God is everywhere present (not only in churches),
and I look forward to letting my light shine in a new way.
Blessings, Eric Nitzberg Ministerial Executive
