Avenidas
For more than 35 years Avenidas has been helping
mid-Peninsula seniors live well, learn and maintain their independence.
Our shared abundance goes to support the transportation service Avenidas provides to the La Comida lunch program,
grocery shopping and the Senior Day Center in South Palo Alto.

Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC)
The Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) was founded in 1973.
It exists to provide alternatives to self-destructive behavior, and to help create healthy lives
for children and their families in Mountain View, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and the surrounding communities.
All CHAC's programs are designed to protect young people from high-risk behaviour while building
personal assets to help insure that they have the greatest chance for success in life.

Friends Outside
Friends Outside, in Santa Clara County, provides assistance and support for prisoners in Santa Clara County and their families.
Through counseling, mentoring and other resources they work to support those left to raise families and to stop
the cycle of incarceration.

Habitat for Humanity Asia Tsunami Relief Fund

Our Sharing Abundance recipient for February is the Habitat for Humanity Asia Tsunami Relief Fund.
The Habitat for Humanity International Asia Tsunami Relief Fund
was launched to collect $25 million to provide 25,000 transitional houses for
families left homeless by the Indian Ocean tsunami on December 26, 2004.

Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen
Each year over 500 volunteers participate in the Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen program to feed seniors,
poor families and the homeless.
They serve over 50,000 meals and prepare another 11,000 baskets with a week’s worth of supplies for families.
An ecumenical organization, Loaves & Fishes operates out of two locations in
San Jose: St. Patrick’s church downtown and St. Maria Goretti in south San Jose.

Mother Branch
Mother Oneida Branch is our sharing abundance recipient this month.
As many of you know, she tirelessly serves the homeless and needy in East Palo Alto.
I'm 86 but look 59 the Lord is keeping me, she says.
Her operation runs year-round and no one is ever turned away.
If you'd like to contribute, send checks, money orders, or grocery gift certificates (no cash) payable to
East Palo Alto Community Center, or you can deliver food, clothing, and money gifts directly.

Partners in Caring
Partners in Caring (PIC) is a joint partnership between Stanford Hospital and Avenidas.
As part of their mission to improve the lives of older adults, PIC provides practical support by
recruiting, training and matching volunteers to homebound individuals
helping older adults remain independent in their own homes.

Read Santa Clara
Our Sharing Abundance recipient for May is Read Santa Clara.
Since 1995, Read Santa Clara has provided free literacy instruction and support to English-speaking adults
in the City of Santa Clara, enabling them to reach their goals and realize their full potential
in their personal, family, work and community lives.

Support Network for Battered Women

The Support Network for Battered Women is the only
domestic violence agency in north Santa Clara County.
Last year they answered 5,485 crisis calls.
Their services include an emergency shelter, counseling, support groups, safety planning, and legal services.

Youth Community Service
YCS provides students with an opportunity to discover their power to change the world around them
through service projects organized and executed by the students.
Our donation will fund supplies for several projects in East Palo Alto such as graffiti removal
