Abundance in Action

A hearty thank you to all of you who are sharing your gifts with Unity Palo Alto. We are so happy to be your partners in prosperity and to serve together with all of you to provide spiritual comfort, inspiration and support to our community and beyond.

Sharing My Gifts is the theme of the pledge drive this year. The drive started on Sun., Oct. 7, 2007. Your pledging helps our board and staff plan the budget for the programs for next year. Our board of trustees is currently planning the 2008 budget so the sooner you can submit your pledge the sooner our board and office staff will have their financial guidelines for 2008. And in addition to the value you receive from the Sunday services and other programs, giving can expand your capacity to receive, and deepens your connection to God.

We are asking you to take some time in prayerful discernment in how you will support your spiritual home and to take ownership of how you want your church community to be.

Pledges come in all sizes. Last year 54 households pledged $1,000 to $2,000; 21 households pledged $5,000 or more; and 22 people pledged $300 or less. This year’s goal is for 172 pledges totaling $360,000.

Pledge cards are in the pew pockets and in the office. We hope you will complete yours today and drop it in the offering basket or turn it into the church office. Blessings to all who have already given and to those whose pledges are yet to be submitted.

Pledging Helps Me Stay in the Flow of Good

Excerpts from Sharon Slagle’s sharing at the Sunday service, Oct. 21

On a daily basis I really need to consciously place myself in the flow of abundance and in the flow of divine guidance for divine ideas to help my clients. Pledging really helps me stay in this flow of good. Since there’s a constant outflow of good through the monthly pledge charge on my credit card, even when I forget to do my affirmation work to place myself in the flow, this consistent outflow has opened me up to receiving the guidance, divine ideas and abundance I need to pay my share of the bills while doing the consulting work that I enjoy.

So now, when tuition payments are due for our two college students, I feel confident and peaceful affirming "I am in the flow of abundance" and know that all is well. I’m really surprised at how this simple concept has changed my life. I recommend it to all of you.

Status: Sharing Our Gifts: Pledge Drive 2008

Dec, 2007

So far 142 pledges have been received to support our church programs for 2008. With a good burst of pledges we will meet our goal of 172. Thank you to all who have responded and thanks in advance to those whose pledges will be coming in and will put us over the top.

Any donations received in person at Unity will count as contributions in the calendar year when the donation is physically handed to the church. If you mail a contribution, the post-mark defines the contribution year. These rules apply even if the check is pre-dated or post-dated.

We welcome your donations of stock as a way of supporting our mission and vision. There can also be significant tax benefits (ask your tax advisor for details). For more information, pick up a form in the office that details the procedure or contact Michael at 650-849-1109 or mclemons@unitypaloalto.org.

As you plan your year-end giving, if you would like information about your donations to Unity this year, call Michael at 650-848-1109 and he will mail you a copy of your giving record.
