Implementing our Strategic Plan
Sept, 2006
During the past year our congregation, staff and board created a strategic plan to move us powerfully
forward into the future we most desire for this community.
Now comes the most important part following through to implement our visions and plans.
Here is an overview of some of the progress we’ve made toward the goals of our plan:
- The board has begun work to determine the best mix of board committees to move the plan forward,
and has designated a communications liaison to help improve quality and consistency of board communications with the congregation.
- Work has begun to create a plan for ongoing leadership development among staff, board and key leaders.
- The marketing team has begun focus groups to help us do a better job inviting people to become a part of Unity Palo Alto.
- Work has begun to create an annual staff work plan to define the best first steps for the staff to take
to begin implementation of the plan.
- We are developing a new training program for youth education volunteers to empower our whole youth program.
Youth and Teen coordinators of Unity’s West Central Region have taken an extraordinary interest in this program.
- We have implemented a full-service chaplaincy at Unity Palo Alto. Monthly wellness calls to members begin in September.
- Our parking lot upgrade is a giant step toward our long-term goal of having a premier facility.
- We have hired an Interim Music Director who is working to move towards a new vision for our music ministry.
- Staff are working with volunteers who have stepped forward to begin organizing various public spaces and filing system.
